Papilla Reconstruction

For many years it was thought that once the interdental papilla was lost it was impossible to replace it. In 2008, Drs. Nordland and Sandhu published their landmark paper showing not only the successful technique but also more than 10 years of post operative longevity.

Before: Patient felt disfigured following a surgical mishap.

After: Papilla augmentation surgery was performed to replace the missing gingiva. Orthodontic treatment closed the gap space.

Because the teeth were very short, sculpting was performed to create a more natural smile.

Patient was so pleased with the result that she also had restorations placed on the lower arch and volunteered to be part of our patient video. This case is now 13 years old.
